shallow & profound live in January '12

Where titans meet....

.... We are very proud to announce, that one of our top acts shallow&profound have been booked for January. They will play live alongside "ticket to the moon", one of Basel's finest Prog Rock ensembles at a party on Saturday January 7.

As a world permiere, both bands will try to make the impossible possible and mingle their styles in a joint live performance. Tickets are all sold out! The label will try to record some of the performance and present it on the website.

schlumberger & ploentzke Charity Round 1 Ended

As you know, schlumberger & ploentzke donated all the revenue from their first album "Reise" to a charitable cause. Read all about it in this post. The initial goal was to donate 500$, which would have been one tenth of a complete water project that could provide one town with clean, fresh water. They didn't leave it at that and raised the bar to 600$ in the hope their fans would tune in.

Today, as schlumberger & ploentzke's fund raising campaign came to an end, we are proud to announce that 700$ were now transferred to desperately needed water projects somewhere in the world!

Where does the money go from here?

According to the campaign's page, charitywater's partners have already identified the communities most in need of clean water. The well is going to be built with the help of the local community, while a health worker provides sanitation and hygiene training. After roughly 18 months, everybody who donated (and provided their email address I guess) will recieve GPS coordinates, photos and info about the project that was supported with their donation.

We'll keep you up to date as soon as we hear from our project. We are very excited! It's such a good feeling being able to help! Thank you to everybody at our release party and afterwards who helped us raise 700$ for this good cause!

Sincerely,
all of the s&p team and artists

Thank you, Steve

We are deeply saddened by Steve's death. Our story is like the one of hundreds of thousands of others but we would like to share it anyway as this is our story.

We came to the Mac in early 2007 and were just blown away by how easy it felt. We never looked back since. Apple managed to re-define what personal meant in 'personal computer'. We haven't had that much fun using computers in our daily work before. It was more tinkering and optimizing the system to keep it running back then. The Mac so famously just worked.

It was also through the Mac that we finally started our musical passion. Suddenly, we found ourselves making music for several hours straight without looking up from the monitor. It felt thought through. It felt polished. It felt human. Steve's Apple above all understood to design their products for human beings. They never sold on chipset specifications and CPU cycles per second. Companies love to hide behind large sheets of hardware specifications to make their products look impressive. But a closer look reveals that it missed to pay any attention to how people should actually use this thing.

Many companies and individuals welcomed this innovative spark Apple spread. It made them think harder about their products, improve them, make them more beautiful, more usable. By now, we grew accustomed to our today's quality of living. Renting a movie in the evening from the comfort of our sofa. Surfing on the go, listening to music on our way to work. And we do everything with style. Something that probably would not yet have happened if not for Steve's persistant nature to bring things forward and make them look good at the same time.

We sincerely want to thank Steve for his vision, his persistance, his products and his legacy that will live on and keep making our lives better, more comfortable, and more enjoyable.

And above all, we from s&p want to thank him for the joy we have at the studio. Without him, we probably never would have started making music, we never would have founded s&p, and we would not be who we are today.

Thank you.

Release Party Aftermath

To round things off, we prepared some statistics of the event. Statistics are always fun so hold on:

63 guests were at the event.
17 schlumberger & ploentzke albums were sold.
7 schlumberger & ploentzke t-shirts found new happy owners (including the 3 special edition H2O tour shirts).
20 shallow & profound albums were sold.
13 shallow & profound t-shirts looked extremely good on our guests.
400 Swiss Francs were raised for charity by schlumberger & ploentzke that evening.
222 Swiss Francs were donated by our guests for the music and the event.

What we like very much about this statistic is the following: Although schlumberger & ploentzke sold less albums and less t-shirts, people donated almost double the amount to their charitable cause. This is really great! Put everything together with their digital album sales, schlumberger & ploentzke raised $500 for this noble project. Respect!

Help raise more

We donated the amount to charity: water and added something extra. You can still help us get more! Tell everybody about it, your friends, on Facebook, on Twitter! Donate 20$ yourself and help us raise even more than the $500! Let's try and go for $600 :) Thank you so much!

Release Party Pictures & Video

Dear fans. After packing all the gear after the show and bringing it back to the s&p lair, it's time to move on to our next CD projects (to hopefully have such a cool release party again some time soon).

Thanks to our friend Jan we have gorgeous pictures of the event. They are now in our photo gallery.

We also created a little tribute movie with time-lapse recordings of the installation, a mix of photos, movie snippets, and time-lapse of the dissassembly. Watch the video below :)

Behind the Scenes of Our Release Party

Hello everybody. While we are still working on the video of our awesome CD release party from last week, we prepared a little something to sweeten waiting time for you.

Before we brought all of our s&p equipment to the party location we had to make sure we didn't forget any important cable, gear, gadget, battery, item, or connector. So we literally went through the whole show 3 days before the event in our living room! Have a look... It was a looooong day.

We proudly announce our fanwear store

Have you ever thought a t-shirt with the stylish pink s&p logo would be a great thing to have in the closet? Well, we thought of this for a long time as well. Finally, after years of research and hundreds of user tests we are happy to report that we got down to business and designed great shirts for s&p. We also designed awesome shirts for shallow & profound while we were at it. They like it a lot. And so do we.

But wait, it doesn't stop there. For our female fans we have a very special accessory. Check it out, can you find it in the shop?

Welcome to our new fanwear store. It looks so neat it could be one of those classy apparel labels!

Band Photos, Organizing a CD Release Party + Facebook Page

Dear fans of our label. Some time has passed. Of course we kept constantly updating and upgrading our studios over the last few months, so the Waldorf Q was not the latest addition. Several cool new plugins were handpicked by our artists and studio engineers.

We made some gorgeous pictures of our two bands. Visit shallow & profound's or schlumberger & ploentzke's picture gallery and see for yourself.

Not only the pictures kept us busy lately. We're planning and working on a CD release party for the albums we have released so far, Reise und Radiation. We ordered physical copies of those albums and we're in the mood to celebrate. Preparations will take some additional 6-8 weeks, but there will be live acts, dance music, drinks and a lot of nice people. We're also doing everything we can to have a fan shop! Merchandising at last! Only on location - for now. Stay tuned to get your personal invitation that we will send out in the coming days.

We also enhanced our web presence by creating a Facebook page. If you like to stay in touch and hear the latest news about your favorite bands, make sure to click on the Like-button here on the right.

As you can see, a lot of interesting things are happening and we're happy to sit in the middle of it.

New addition to Studio 1: Waldorf Q

We're proud to add a new gadget to our Studio 1. We recently acquired a classic synthesizer for our pool of professional gear. A Waldorf Q. Warm sounds, great and intuitive layout of controls going from the oscillator to filter sections, effects and step sequencer. A great piece of hardware our artists can play with from now on. It's fully integrated with the studio setup and ready to use. Go to the Waldorf Q website for some demo songs.
